A number of areas in Cork city experienced flash flooding this afternoon after torrential downpours coincided with high tide, causing the River Lee to overflow in places.
Affected areas included Penrose Quay, Anglesea St, Douglas St, Turner's Cross and the Curragh Road.
Gardaí asked motorists to avoid Penrose Quay between Michael Collins Bridge and Brian Boru Bridge but said no road closures were in place.
Laya Healthcare's City Spectacular in Fitzgerald Park closed early due to adverse weather.
Signs have been erected to notify motorists of affected areas.
