Donohoe colleague thanks public for support

A friend and colleague of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe has thanked the public for their support following his murder on Friday night.

The 41 year old father of two was shot dead during a raid on a credit union in Lordship in Dundalk.

A cross border gang are believed to have been involved and gardaí and the PSNI are examining a burned out car believed to have been used by the raiders, which was found at Darkley near Keady in Armagh yesterday.

Garda Robert Peelo from Dromod Garda Station and GRA representative for the Louth area says Adrian Donohoe came from a strong garda family and too many lives have been affected.

"There's just so many families and lives tragically affected by this," he said. "Since Friday night it has become more horrific because it took place in the heart of his local community. It was where Adrian lives and his wife and children were a short distance away from the horrible act that took place."
