It has emerged in the Commercial Court that developer Jim Mansfield is suffering from a rare disease of the nervous system called multiple system atrophy.

NAMA appointed a receiver earlier this year to some of the businessman's major assets including Weston Aerodrome, Palmerstown Golf Club and apartment blocks attached to Citywest Golf Club.

NAMA's claim is for more than €74m.

Jim Mansfield also being pursued by Bank of Scotland.

In light of the medical revelations, the judge has given his lawyers more time to receive instructions.
