Update 12 noon & 2.30pm: Gardai have made an appeal for information following a gangland shooting in West Dublin yesterday afternoon.

Derek Hutch - also known as Derek Coakley was shot dead at the Bridgeview Halting Site in Ronanstown.

The 27 year old had previously been warned his life was in danger.

He is the 14th victim of the ongoing Hutch - Kinahan feud in the city.

Superintendent John Gordon said this morning they were specifically looking for information in relation to two cars.

"A black Volkswagen Golf was seen leaving this area within moments of the shooting incident.

"That vehicle registration 05CE1675 was found a number of minutes later on fire a short distance from here in an area called Craggs Avenue.

"Subsequent to that at approximately 6.25pm a black Toyota Avensis, registration number 04D72956, was found burnt out at the rear of Snowdrop Walk in Darndale in an area known locally as the peace line."

An incident room has been set up at Lucan Garda station and the scene has been preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí at Lucan have said they are particularly anxious to make a further appeal to members of the public, who may have any information, in particular those with 'dashcams', who were in the area of Cloverhill Road, Clondalkin Dublin 22 between 1.30pm and 3.10pm.

Gardaí are also appealing for information, witnesses or people with 'dashcams' who may have seen or been in the areas listed below at the relevant times.

1) Crag Avenue, Dublin 22, where a black VW Golf registration 05-CE-1675 was found on fire shortly after the shooting. 

2) Snowdrop Walk, Darndale at 6.25pm where a black Toyota Avensis registration 04-D-72956 was found burnt out,

Meanwhile, a post mortem is due to be carried out with the assistance of the State Pathologist this afternoon at 2pm.

The hunt is continuing this morning for the gunman behind the latest fatal shooting in Dublin.

The 27 year old man who was shot dead as he sat in a car at the Bridgeview Halting site in Ronanstown yesterday afternoon has been named as Derek Hutch, who was also known as Derek Coakley.

He was shot a number of times and the scene remains sealed off for a continuing forensic examination today.

A second scene was sealed off at Crag Avenue where a burned out car was found shortly after the incident.

It’s believed to be the latest killing carried out as part of the Hutch-Kinahan feud.

According to RTE Derek Hutch was known to the Gardai and had previous convictions for robbery and other offences.

A nephew of Gerard Hutch he carried his uncle Eddie Hutch’s coffin afer he became the fourth victim of the ongoing feud between the two gangs.

Investigating Gardaí will hold a media briefing and issue an appeal for information at the scene of yesterday's fatal shooting incident at 11am today.
