Delays can be expected throughout the day at Dublin Airport, the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) have warned.

Due to what the organisation referred to in a statement as "unusually high levels of illness among air traffic controllers", services operating into and out of the airport have been restricted.

"Due to … the unwillingness of other controllers to cover those absences, the Irish Aviation Authority, in the interest of safety, has had to restrict services," said the statement.

"The IAA regrets the inconvenience to passengers and airlines. Intending passengers are requested to contact their airline for further information."
