Debate on Children and Family Relationships Bill to begin tonight

The justice minister says married couples who wish to adopt will not be discriminated against after new family laws are passed.

Frances Fitzgerald says the new Children and Family Relationships Bill will always make sure a child is given the best family for their needs - irrespective of their parents' gender.

Debate on the landmark bill is beginning in the Dail this evening.

Minister Fitzgerald says the new law will not see married couples discriminated against in favour of same-sex partners - or anyone else.
