Daly: I did not mention any name in 'Garda cover-up' allegation

Independent TD Clare Daly has denied she named a person under Dáil privilege who is alleging that Gardaí covered up the murder of a civilian by a member of the force.

The Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald today requested a full report into the claim.

The Independent TD recently used Dáil privilege to claim that an officer witnessed a colleague shooting a member of the public.

Fine Gael TD Alan Farrell has accused Deputy Daly of naming the person making the allegations - a claim the independent TD completely denies.

She said: "Can I categorically say that I did not mention any name of anybody in relation to this allegation at any time."
