There is renewed speculation that Brian Cowen will not run in the forthcoming Election after his constituency colleagues were overheard discussing the party's prospects without him.

There is renewed speculation that Brian Cowen will not run in the forthcoming Election after his constituency colleagues were overheard discussing the party's prospects without him.

Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming was picked up on open microphones in the Dáil claiming the party would be in "fierce trouble" if Mr Cowen did not run.

He also suggested that Brian Cowen's brother Barry may contest the Election instead.
