The Taoiseach has said the Garda investigation at Anglo Irish Bank must be allowed to take its course, and that to comment on the investigation in the Dáil might prejudice any possible trial.
Brian Cowen made the comments in the Dáil this afternoon as the fraud squad continued its search of Anglo's headquarters in Dublin.
Officers from the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement were granted warrants for the raid at Dublin District Court yesterday.
It's understood gardaí are looking for books, documents and other materials which could provide evidence of any offences committed.
"For operational reasons, the Director (of Corporate Enforcement) will not be disclosing the offence or the offences in question, the premises searched or the name of the company to which this search relates," the Taoiseach said.
"The Director will be making no comment on the matter at this stage."
