Two Limerick brothers have been refused bail after appearing in court charged with possession of an estimated €50,000 worth of heroin for sale or supply.

Two Limerick brothers have been refused bail after appearing in court charged with possession of an estimated €50,000 worth of heroin for sale or supply.

Brian and Kieran Collopy with addresses in Limerick, appeared before a special sitting of Kilmallock District Court this Saturday evening.

The pair were arrested on December 15, after a house in St Mary's Park was searched by gardaí.

Officers from Henry Street and Mayorstone in Limerick, backed up by members of the force's armed Regional Support Unit, raided the house as part of a planned operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs in Limerick.

Brian Collopy, 43, of Kilonan, Ballysimon, Co Limerick and Kieran Collopy, 40, of St Ita's Street, St Mary's Park, were each charged with possession of heroin.

They were each also charged with possession of heroin for sale or supply.

The Collopy brothers were remanded in custody to appear before Limerick District Court next Tuesday.
