Voting in the leadership contest has concluded and the ballot are now being counted.

The Taoiseach and outgoing party leader, Brian Cowen, was given a standing ovation after he addressed a meeting of the Parliamentary party.

Four people are vying for the top job - Micheál Martin, Eamon O'Cuiv, Brian Lenihan and Mary Hanafin.

Former Foreign Affairs Minister Martin is the front-runner to win the contest. However it is understood that there has been a late rally of support for Social Protection Minister Eamon O'Cuiv.
