New rules have been drawn up for construction companies and maintenance workers in historic parts of the city.

According to the Irish Times, the council has identified 300 streets with kerbs, flagstones and cobbles that need protecting.

There will be a ban on jackhammers, tight restrictions on utility companies digging up streets and clear instructions for cleaning paths in the designated areas.
