Council lifts swimming ban on six Dublin beaches

A swimming ban which had been in place since Tuesday on six beaches in North Dublin has now been lifted.

Fingal County Council has confirmed that the quality of water is now safe for bathing in Balbriggan front beach, Skerries South Beach, Loughshinny Beach, Portrane Beach and Rush North and South beaches.

Red Flags were put in place after heavy rain caused pump stations to overflow, allowing contaminated water into the sea.

The swimming ban in place at Brittas Bay South in Wicklow has also been lifted.
