Cork City Council today announced that the Jack Lynch tunnel will fully reopen tomorrow - nearly two weeks ahead of schedule - to help ease Christmas traffic.

Cork City Council today announced that the Jack Lynch tunnel will fully reopen tomorrow - nearly two weeks ahead of schedule - to help ease Christmas traffic.

The tunnel is currently closed nightly from 9.15pm to 7am with the exception of Fridays while additional fire protection is installed.

The work, which started in September, was originally scheduled to take six months but that was later reduced to three months.
