Cork Airport crash survivor hopes safety recommendations will be implemented
One of the survivors of the fatal Cork Air crash in 2011 has said he hopes the safety recommendations made by the Air Accident Investigation Unit will be implemented.
Laurence Wilson was speaking after today's inquest into the deaths of six people on board the Manx 2 flight returned verdicts of accidental deaths.
The flight from Belfast crashed in thick fog as it was preparing to land at Cork Airport in February 2011.
The jury heard evidence from 15 witnesses over two days, including the Air Accident Investigation Unit.
The 240 page AAIU report took almost three years to prepare and contains 11 safety recommendations which are currently under consideration.
Laurence Wilson told RedFM News that he hoped the recommendations would be implemented in an effort to help prevent another accident.
"If the 11 pieces of information are implemented, that would be a good and positive thing to come out of this," he said.
