Community workers from around the country are planning to stage a protest in Dublin today against proposed cuts in funding for community development projects.

Workers and management committees say the cuts proposed by An Bord Snip Nua would cause the closure of community centres and widespread job losses.

Community development projects help the most vulnerable people in society by providing childcare programmes, meals on wheels and drug rehabilitation services.

Today's protest will begin at Liberty Hall, with participants planning to march to the Department of Finance.
