Gardaí have closed off all access to the Barack Obama welcome concert at College Green this evening, after the maximum capacity was reached.
"We wish to emphasise that no further access will allowed to the area," the Gardaí said in a statement.
The President is expected to address the crowds at around 6pm.
There is a carnival atmosphere on College Green as music is pumped out of speakers and the sun comes out.
Everyone at the event will have passed through security checkpoints. No one is allowed food, drinks, umbrellas or banners at the event.
The entertainment will include performances by Jedward, Imelda May and Westlife, as well as addresses by actors Gabriel Byrne and Brendan Gleeson.
Special screens are being set up by Christchurch to show the event.
