Cold spell of weather set to continue

The cold spell continues this morning with more wintry showers expected in the north and north-west.

Yesterday, a number of roads were closed in Cavan and Monaghan following heavy snow fall.

The showers today will be mostly of rain or hail, but will turn more wintry on higher ground.

However, Met Éireann has predicted the bitterly cold conditions will make a return over the coming days.

Temperatures are expected to be between 4 to 7°C nationally today.
