Over half a million euro is to be spent on upgrading facilities at the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare.

The exhibition centre, public car park and coach parking in the area will all be upgraded, at a cost of €550,000.

The Cliffs of Moher is one of the best known points along the newly launched "Wild Atlantic Way".

The exhibition centre reported a 10% increase in visitor numbers in 2013, when almost a million people - 960,134 - visited the cliffs.
