A civil liberties group says they have grave concerns over the roll-out of the Public Services Card.

At an Oireachtas Committee, the ICCL said there are serious concerns about privacy rights given the amount of personal detail proposed to be held on the cards.

A solicitor at the committee said it possibly opens the government up to claims for breach of data protection.
