The Minister for Justice Michael McDowell is being urged to help reunite the families of two Nigerian women, who were deported from the midlands almost two weeks ago.

There is still no word on the whereabouts of the six youngsters, who went into hiding after the women were put on a plane to Lagos.

Noel Casey, Deputy Principal at Our Lady's Bower School in Athlone, where one of the missing girls is a student, said that the community wants them and their mothers to be allowed to stay in Ireland.

However, he said he was afraid that when the children are found, they too will be put on a flight out of the country.
