A celebration is taking place today to mark the 90th anniversary of the first sitting of Dáil Éireann in the Mansion house in 1919.

The event has been organised by the Labour party in Liberty Hall in the city centre.

It is to celebrate the first Dáil's adoption of a democratic programme, which was put together by the then leader of the Labour Party, Tom Johnson.

Labour's Joan Burton said she hopes people will make it out in spite of the weather.
