The Catholic Primate of All Ireland, Dr Sean Brady, has prayed that war can be averted in his St Patrick's Day homily.

The Catholic Primate of All Ireland, Dr Sean Brady, has prayed that war can be averted in his St Patrick's Day homily.

He told his congregation that he hoped talk of war would not become "a self-fulfilling prophecy and an irreversible dynamic".

He also urged that all the participants in the peace process to use "sacrifice, belief and persistence" to try and find a way out of the current crisis in Northern Ireland.
