Cars sold in bank drafts scam recovered by Gardaí

Gardaí say they have recovered a majority of cars which have been bought using fake bank drafts and resold to another buyer for cash.

78 of 79 vehicles involved in such a scam over the last three years have been recovered.

24 cases have been reported so far this year, compared to 21 for the whole of last year.

Gardaí are advising anyone selling a car to check with the bank that a draft is purportedly issued from, before handing over the vehicle and its paperwork.

Full details can be found on the Garda Síochána website.
