It is reported the Cabinet will move to address concerns over imprisoning people for the non payment of debt.

Ministers are expected to discuss recommendations contained in a Law Reform Commission report at their weekly meeting on Wednesday.

The LRC has suggested that attachment orders should be made on a person's salary or social welfare payments instead of a prison term.

It is thought that this would include unpaid water bills.
