Brothers hospitalised after Waterford assault

Two brothers have been taken to hospital following an assault in the People's Park in Waterford at around midnight last night.

Two brothers have been taken to hospital following an assault in the People's Park in Waterford at around midnight last night.

The two men - aged 25 and 27 - were taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. One of them is in intensive care in a critical condition.

It is understood they were attacked by a group of men wielding hurleys.

The park is closed for a technical examination and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
