Breakthrough in talks with electricians' union

A nationwide strike by electricians could be averted, after an agreement has been reached at the Labour Relations Commission.

The deal would involve employers withdrawing their plans for a pay cut, and the TEEU would cancel its claim for a 4.9% increase.

The General Secretary of the TEEU, Eamon Devoy, said that both sides will now consult their members on the deal.

He said that he will be recommending that they accept it.
