A nine-year-old boy has suffered a broken leg after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Cork.

A nine-year-old boy has suffered a broken leg after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Cork.

He was hit shortly after 5pm on the Old Youghal Road and taken to Cork University Hospital, police said.

A Garda spokesman said: “His injuries although serious are not life threatening.”

They appealed for anybody in the area at the time who may have seen a beige or silver Nissan Primera to contact them.
