A 12-year-old boy has been killed in a car crash in West Dublin today.

A 12-year-old boy has been killed in a car crash in West Dublin today.

The accident happened on St Cuthberts Rd, Clondalkin at approximately 1.40pm this afternoon.

The boy was fatally injured when the pony and trap he was travelling on and a truck were in collision.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.

The two other boys that were also travelling on the pony and trap were uninjured and did not require hospital treatment.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene of the collision.
