Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at Croftwood housing estate in Ballyfermot shortly after 10pm this evening.

Gardaí in Dublin are investigating a shooting incident which occurred at Croftwood housing estate in Ballyfermot shortly after 10pm this evening.

A six-year-old boy received an apparent gunshot injury at a house in the estate.

He was been taken to Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin where he is being treated for his injuries.

The scene is currently sealed off pending a Garda forensic examination.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
