Stormont Finance Minister Sammy Wilson has announced that all bonuses for senior civil servants in the North are being scrapped for this year.

The 220 highest ranking officials in the North were controversially paid £1.2m (€1.4m) in bonuses last year.

Mr Wilson said today that he had considered the matter carefully and had decided to introduce a new pay package that does not include bonuses.

However, top civil servants will receive a 3.5% increase in their basic salaries.
