Disposal experts have defused two pipe bombs left at a house in Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

Disposal experts have defused two pipe bombs left at a house in Ballymoney, Co Antrim.

A number of nearby homes were evacuated because of the security alert at Dehra Gardens in the town’s Garryduff Road area.

The two devices were left on the windowsill of the house in the early hours.

Neighbouring families were then moved out and accommodated at a nearby church hall. Traffic was also diverted.

Two control explosions were carried out and police later said both devices were viable.
