Bank of Ireland has predicted strong demand for labour in the coming months after publishing its latest jobs index today.

The index showed that 35,000 job adverts were placed in six national daily and Sunday newspapers during the first two months of this year.

This is slightly less than the same period last year, but Bank of Ireland said all indicators suggested labour demand would remain high for the remainder of 2006.

Bank of Ireland said the professional sector accounted for the largest number of adverts, followed by construction.
