Bid to move Brooks concerts to new dates
A last ditch attempt to save the Garth Brooks concerts is underway, which would see two gigs rescheduled on new dates.
Mediator Kieran Mulvey is reportedly trying to persuade Aiken Promotions to make a fresh licence application.
The rescheduled gigs could take place on July 30 and 31 - the Wednesday and Thursday rather than the original Monday and Tuesday nights.
The bid would have to be fast-tracked once residents' key concerns are addressed with the assurance that no concerts would take place next year.
A meeting of Dublin City Council is due to take place today and a final decision is expected tomorrow.
Sinn Féin will table an emergency motion at the meeting as the party's Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald told reporters over the weekend that she wants to see all five gigs going ahead at Croke Park.
Residents living around Croke Park, opposed to the Garth Brooks concerts, are due to stage a protest later outside the meeting where Sinn Féin will call on city manager Owen Keegan to intervene.
Dublin businesses, including the Licensed Vintners Association, are holding a press conference this morning to highlight the economic cost to the city if the concerts do not proceed.
