A Belfast bus driver is recovering today after being slashed on the arm by three masked robbers last night.

The men, armed with knives and hammers, dragged the driver from his vehicle as he sat at the Westland Road terminus and stole an undisclosed sum of cash from his float.

A police spokesman said the bus driver was slashed several times on the left arm during the robbery.

Detectives believe his attackers approached from the direction of the Westland estate and escaped towards the same area.
