Being angry or upset can double chances of heart attack

Being angry or upset can more than double the chance of having a heart attack.

That is according to a new international study which also found that heavy physical exertion increased the risk of an attack.

Researchers in 52 countries, including staff at NUI Galway, interviewed over 12 thousand people.

They found that being angry or emotional while doing heavy work, triples the risk of a heart attack.

The authors of the study recommend that people at risk of a heart attack should avoid extreme emotional situations.
