Beaumont Hospital opens new 'non-denominational' mortuary

A new €300,000 mortuary has opened in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

It will replace the previous facility which could only cater for one family at a time, while others waited in the car park.

The hospital says it wants to transform the way hospital spaces are designed for people at the end of life.

Up to 900 deceased patients pass through the Beaumont mortuary every year, and the upgraded facility will be a non-denominational space.
