Barnardos head concerned at latest twist in Rehab investigation

The head of Barnardos Fergus Finlay says it is "deeply concerning" that anything in the charity sector should warrant the attention of the Gardaí.

Mr Finlay was reacting to the announcement yesterday that allegations surrounding people connected to the Rehab group were being passed on by the Public Accounts Committee.

They are contained in a letter received by the committee from developer John Kelly.

The Barnardos Chief Executive believes the full establishment of a charities regulator is the only way to draw a line under the series of controversies that have hit his sector.
