Two men, aged 45 and 52, who were arrested in connection with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer have been released on bail.

Two men, aged 45 and 52, who were arrested in connection with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer have been released on bail.

Detectives investigating the shooting in Bangor, Co Down, on Wednesday have appealed for information.

They want anyone who was in the Springhill area of the town anytime between 6.45pm and 7.45pm to contact them.

At present the police investigation is not being linked to terrorist activity. The victim was not injured.
