Ballyhea Says No group says it is 'absolutely not too late' for Ireland to fight bondholders
A group who has held weekly protests for the past five years against the banking crisis, says it is not too late for Ireland to fight against bondholders.
The Ballyhea Says No group concludes its weekly marches today.
The group is promising to continue its campaign against the payment of the promissory notes after it winds down the weekly marches.
Founder Diarmuid O'Flynn says the Banking Inquiry report proves the Government should have fought harder not to pay unsecured bondholders.
He said: "I'm pretty certain that if our central bank and our government said we are not selling one cent worth more of those bonds, the ECB would kick up but I don't think there would be any major repurcussions now where Ireland is concerned.
"Nobody in Europe could stand ove the morality of what was done on that promissory note, and we found that ourselves on our visits over there.
"It is absolutely not too late, where that is concerned."
