BAI to discuss 'Frontline' allegation today

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) is today expected to discuss an allegation from an audience member at the RTÉ 'Frontline' presidential debate that his question was changed by a researcher.

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) is today expected to discuss an allegation from an audience member at the RTÉ 'Frontline' presidential debate that his question was changed by a researcher.

Former candidate Sean Gallagher has called for a full public inquiry into what he described as the "unanswered questions" surrounding the claims. RTÉ has disputed the allegation.

Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte said that no evidence had been submitted to him that might provide for a further inquiry into the treatment of Mr Gallagher.

Last night, RTÉ announced it had set up a full editorial review examining the production of live audience-based programmes, in response to the controversy surrounding the debate last October.

Last week, the BAI upheld a complaint made by Gallagher that the broadcast of the tweet was unfair to him.
