Authority advises commuters to check website for alternative travel options

Rail passengers are facing further disruption this morning in the second day of strike action at Iarnród Éireann.

No Intercity, DART or commuter trains will run, apart from the Luas in Dublin, due to the action by the NBRU and Siptu.

Commuters will need to chose alternative routes and leave extra time for their journey.

Jerry Murphy, CEO of The National Transport Authority, has this advice.

He said: "Go to transportforireland.ie, the website that we have. On that website, you'll see the commercial bus operators, and it's well to remember that in the Greater Dublin area, Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann and the Luas services are operating as normal.

"You can use the journey planner facility on our site, you can use our app as well.

"What we've done is we've frozen out all of the rail journeys from that on the days of the strike, so that you'll only get the alternatives coming up that may be options for you when you're travelling."
