Asylum seekers fail to prevent deportation

Three asylum seekers today failed in their Supreme Court attempt to prevent their deportation.

Three asylum seekers today failed in their Supreme Court attempt to prevent their deportation.

The three had argued that they should not be deported solely on the basis that their applications for asylum had been turned down.

However, the court found that the Minister for Justice, John O'Donoghue, had given adequate reason for the deportations.

Today's ruling is expected to result in a number of deportations which had been put on hold pending the outcome of this case.
