The Army Bomb Disposal Team has made safe an explosive device that was found outside a house in Drogheda in Co Louth earlier.
A number of houses in the Moneymore area of the town had to be evacuated when the device was found.
The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the scene at 1.40pm and a cordon as well as road closures were put in place.
The device was made safe without the need for a controlled explosion and has now been handed over to Gardaí.
The area was then declared safe at 2.20pm.
It is call out number 81 for the Defence Forces Bomb Disposal Team and they have rendered 29 viable devices safe so far this year.
