The Department of Health has released a statement addressing current delays in the nursing registration process.

The Department said the applications to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland have increased by 122% this year.

The statement also said that 70% of outstanding applications have submitted incomplete documentation, and cannot be processed until full documentation has been supplied.

The group Nursing Homes Ireland, has criticised the fact that the statement was issued by the Department of Health rather than by the Health Minister.
