Anger in Cork as rain and high tides combine to cause floods
High tides and heavy rainfall mean coastal areas remain on flood alert this week.

Businesses in Cork city are hitting out at the local council for not doing more to prevent this morning's flooding.

Met Eireann has issued an Orange weather warning until later this afternoon, but more rain and gale force winds are forecast over the coming days.
Other coastal counties have also been hit with flooding today and many roads remain impassable this afternoon in Wexford, Waterford, Galway and Wicklow.

Parts of Cork city were submerged in several feet of water this morning, but the floods are now beginning to recede.

Homeowners and businesses in Cork are now starting to count the cost of the flood damage.
Finbarr Cotter, who owns Newbridge Silverware on Oliver Plunkett Street, says he is angry that the local council isn't taking action.

Hundreds of homes and businesses have been affected in Cork, Waterford and Wexford.
There's also flooding in Salthill in Galway and in parts of Clare and Kerry.

Cork city has been worst affected with flood waters reaching up to five inches.

Met Eireann is warning there is no end in sight to the stormy conditions that left hundreds of homes and businesses under water over the weekend.

A clean-up operation is underway, but efforts may be hampered by strong winds over the next few days which could reach up to 100 kilometres per hour.
Forecaster John Eagleton says flooding is highly likely as the country is at saturation point.
The Minister of State at the Office of Public Works Brian Hayes will visit Limerick this morning, an area which has experienced unprecendented flooding in recent days.
On Saturday, elderly residents in various parts of the city had to be evacuated from their homes by boat after the river Shannon burst its banks and several feet of water swamped homes.

Donal O'Rourke from Kings Island in Limerick City says his home was completely destroyed in the floods.
He recalls the speed at which the flood waters entered the house.
Today's storm is also likely to hamper clean-up operations in Galway and Clare - which also experienced severe flooding over the weekend.

The weather is also causing disruption to some travel services.
