Almost 900 anti-social incidents on LUAS in 12 months

Almost 900 incidents of anti-social behaviour and threats to passengers and staff happened on the LUAS last year.

LUAS operators Transdev said the majority of incidents happened on the red line. The line runs from Saggart to the Point Theatre.

There was no figure for how many thefts took place in 2013.

Last year there were 677 public order offences and a number of prosecutions are currently with the Gardaí.

Staff and passengers were also subjected to abusive behaviour on 199 occasions.

Transdev held meetings with gardaí every two months last year and said it would continue to work with authorities to combat crime.

The company also employs seven two-man guard teams to patrol the red line during business hours.
