A new air ambulance service is today being announced for the midlands region.

A new air ambulance service is being announced for the midlands region.

From mid May, an Air Corps Helicopter will be based in Custume Barracks in Athlone, Co Westmeath, seven days a week.

The service will enable the swift transport of critically ill patients to the most appropriate hospital for their injuries.
