Students will no longer need perfect Leaving Cert points to get in to medicine.

Students will no longer need perfect Leaving Cert points to get in to medicine.

From 2009 onwards, a new system for selecting medicine students will begin, which will allocate university places through a combination of points and an admissions test.

Those with more than 480 points will be eligible to apply to sit the test, and weighted credit will be given to for Leaving Cert performance up to 550 points.
