Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has said the Government's mid-term fiscal plan to make cuts of €3.8bn in next months Budget will not work.
Mr Adams said Government's plan saying contained no jobs stimulus proposals despite promises made by the Government to grow employment.
He said the programme announced yesterday was "anti-jobs, anti-growth and pro-austerity" and was a continuation of the policies pursued by the Fianna Fáil-Green government.
Speaking at the Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle in Dublin today, Gerry Adams told 98FM News that this plan is a step in the wrong direction.
"Austerity doesn’t get people back to work. There's no job stimulus element to any of this," he said.
"The Government is actually admitting that even in three years time, there will still be 250,000 people unemployed. By any economic measurement, this is going in entirely the wrong direction."
